Inside Out Awards 2019 Launch | Showcasing the best of 2018
Tuesday 21st May saw the official launch of this year’s Inside Out Awards.
Hosted at Aquent, a returning sponsor, the breakfast briefing showcased the very best from the 2018 Awards. This two hour session, accompanied by coffee and croissants, provided the audience with unique insights, personal experiences and examples of best practice from winning in-house design teams.
Sarah Ellis Jones, Team Lead at Aquent & Awards Judge, talked about her experience as a Judge and what she really looks for in an award winning project. She provided some great advice for those thinking about applying. Her top 3 tips included giving yourself enough time to gather all your examples. Include the team in the preparation and present your work in a clear and concise way.
Laura Heaton, Global Associate Design Director at MediaCom spoke about the impact winning an award had on their in-house creative team. Detailing how receiving recognition from senior leaders within the business gave her team a huge boost. She said:
“having the opportunity to showcase and share their work, was overwhelmingly positive and motivation in the team rocketed as a direct result.”
The guests then had the great pleasure to view, exclusively, the winning work from 2018.
Sally Green, Associate Creative Director at Pentland Brands Limited presented their work which won them the Best Internal Rebrand. Sally demonstrated the work behind the Pentland rebrand and shared some unique insights into their approach.
Sam Jacobs, Creative Director at Oliver/Guardian, presented their Soulmates project which won them the Best Project Award. Plus, their work which won them the “What’s a great idea?’ category. Sam spoke with honesty and passion about the work of their in-house team and also noted the positive impact winning both awards had had.
Horacio Herrera-Richmond, Creative Studio Manager at Anthony Nolan closed the event showcasing their life saver campaign which won the accolade of Best Example of Collaboration due to their video production partnership.

“I am so pleased to be able to provide a platform for last year’s Award winners to showcase their work. We were so impressed with the high standard of entries that it seemed a shame not to share them amongst the design community. I was also encouraged to see that there were so many in the audience who hadn’t participated before and are now looking to enter a project this year”
